As a drought-prone country, South Africa is vulnerable to water scarcity, and even where underground water is in abundant supply, this is often contaminated. It is for this reason that H30 partnered with an Internationally established manufacturer of filtration systems to supply South Africans with the best quality in filtration systems. Examples of successful Filtration installations are as follows:
DURBANVILLE INSTALLATION:
The client had an existing borehole that was used for irrigation and wanted to upgrade the water to potable use with the purpose of going off-grid. Staining of the client’s walls was also prevalent. The design of the treatment plant was done to pre-treat the water by initially removing iron and manganese and any suspended solids present in the borehole water. The pre-treated water is used for irrigation and filling of the client’s swimming pool. A further portion of the pre-treated water is fed to the reverse osmosis system for desalination. The desalination system produces fully compliant SANS241 product water. The water is finally remineralised to present more minerals into the water and prevent corrosion problems associated with desalinated water. Final disinfection is done by UV to provide 2000 litre per day of safe drinking water. In all instances clients are advised on the most robust and cost-effective means to achieve the desired quality of water – a holistic view is taken.
MELKBOSCH INSTALLATION:
The client had a highly saline (3500ppm) borehole which was intended to produce water for both irrigation and household consumption. The salt content was such that the water could not be used for irrigation. The iron needed to be removed from the water prior to desalination to prevent fouling of the membranes. The water was oxidised and the iron removed through birm filtration AFM filtration for suspended solids removal. The water is further demineralised through reverse osmosis and blended to achieve good quality SANS241 drinking water also suitable for garden irrigation. The treatment system is able to produce 10000 liters per day. In all instances clients are advised on the most robust and cost-effective means to achieve the desired quality of water – a holistic view is taken.
VALMARY INSTALLATION:
The client had an existing borehole that was used for garden irrigation. The client wanted to upgrade the treatment system to produce potable water for household consumption. The plant was installed with AFM filtration to remove suspended solids as pre-treatment for the RO system. The desalination system produces 2000L per day of SANS241 quality water and is disinfected through UV before storage in a tank with a distribution pump connected to the household. Remineralisation of the water is done prior to storage to present more minerals into the water and prevent corrosion problems associated with desalinated water. In all instances clients are advised on the most robust and cost-effective means to achieve the desired quality of water – a holistic view is taken.
